PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition — a coating process used to apply a decorative finish, including gold-colored finishes, to stainless steel. PVD coatings can offer improved wear resistance compared with some conventional plating methods. Like any surface finish, they can gradually show wear with friction, chemicals, and prolonged exposure to harsh conditions.
Yes — our stainless steel chains are designed for everyday wear, including normal showering. Rinse away soap and body wash residue and dry your jewelry afterward. Limiting prolonged exposure to chlorine and harsh chemicals helps protect the finish.
Occasional water exposure is generally fine for stainless steel, but frequent exposure to chlorine, saltwater, and pool chemicals can affect certain finishes over time. Rinse and dry your chain after you swim.
You can generally sleep and exercise in your permanent jewelry. Use caution during contact sports, heavy lifting, or anything where a chain could catch, and remove it when safety rules or workplace policies require.
If your bracelet breaks, don't worry keep your chain and get it rewelded. Rewelding is complimentary within 30 days of your original appointment, and $25 after 30 days, as long as the chain is suitable for repair.
Permanent jewelry isn't literally permanent. It can be removed when needed professionally, or by carefully cutting the connecting jump ring with the right tools while the chain is safely away from your skin. Save your chain and we can reweld it later.
Before an MRI, surgery, or another medical procedure, tell your care team you're wearing permanent jewelry and follow their instructions. Most small pieces don't cause trouble at airport security, but always follow TSA or security personnel if removal is requested.
